Black Achievers Program

YMCA Black Achievers is a college and career readiness program, providing equitable access, opportunities, and support for historically marginalized youth in grades 6-12. Students, known as “Achievers”, are exposed to academic support, career and college exploration, life and social skills, mentoring, and more. Achievers are supported by YMCA staff, volunteers, and Adult Achievers.

Black Achievers is held every 2nd and 4th Saturday beginning August 24, 2024 from 9am until 12 noon. Saturday sessions include whole group discussions, career clusters, guest speakers, and field trips.

Cluster sessions include:

  • 6th-8th grades: Success Bound
  • Arts, Media & Entertainment
  • Business & Entrepreneurship
  • Engineering & Technology
  • Education & Human Services
  • Healthcare
  • Seniors
  • Parents

Attendance: Achievers are required to attend 75% of Saturday session and may make up 3 missed sessions by attending an education/ cultural or participating in community service.

  • $50 per student (non-refundable)
