Cadyn Blair, a senior on the North Lexington Family YMCA Tiger Sharks swim team, reflects on nine years of swimming as she nears graduation from Lexington Catholic High School. She hopes to witness overall improvement during the remaining time in this season and simply desires to continue learning new things. Through swim team, she has found a source of never-ending support and discipline, and it is an experience that she feels has made her a better overall person. "I always have someone to talk to," she explains, "and it has always made any day a lot better."
Cadyn has found a sweet spot both in and out of the pool - the 50 free is her best event and she likes baking to decompress. During the off-season, she also maintains her hobby of weightlifting, which she does at the YMCA. "I use the Y to lift and stay in shape," Cadyn shares. "It has always been a place I can go to clear my mind." She thinks her friends would describe her as driven and encouraging, which is reflected in her accomplishments on the team - she won the coach's award last year - and in her advice for new swimmers: "It's okay to not be the best, just focus on your times and yourself. You got it!"
After graduation this spring, Cadyn plans to attend college and major in criminology. Her top three school choices are currently Western Kentucky University, University of Tennessee, and University of Central Florida. We're wishing Cadyn the best as she makes this decision, and as she finishes out her final season as a Tiger Shark.
