Swim team season is well underway, and for North Lexington Family YMCA Tiger Shark Paisley Bodager, it is a significant one: it's her senior year. She has particularly enjoyed swim team because the experience has connected her with good friends - friends who, she says, would describe her as funny, caring, and sarcastic. In the pool, Paisley likes butterfly and long distance freestyle most; when she's not in the pool, she enjoys reading, playing video games, and watching animé. She also leads worship twice a month at a local prayer room.
After she graduates from homeschool, Paisley will pursue a degree in business at Rochester University in Rochester Hills, Michigan; until then, she hopes her senior year is "a great last swim season surrounded by my friends, and I hope I don't injure myself again." The hopes she has for herself is reflected in the advice she offers for swimmers just getting started: "You won't enjoy swimming if you're only focused on winning your heats and getting first place in every race. Those things are important to focus on to push you, but the real fun from swimming is building a community and just enjoying that you have the ability to exercise and move your body."
We applaud your wisdom and perspective, and wish you a strong senior season, Paisley! We hope it is healthy and full of memories with your friends!
