Frankfort Regional Medical Center (FRMC), presenting sponsor of the Black Cat Chase 5K, primarily looks for one of two areas when considering opportunities to partner with local organizations: they seek to align with those who have a focus on health and wellness or safety. With the YMCA, they recognize the unique opportunity to align in mission and goals that go even beyond their primary criteria. "We value the YMCA’s commitment to fostering community well-being, youth development, and healthy living. The YMCA’s inclusive programs and services align with our mission to support initiatives that enhance the quality of life for individuals and families in our region. By partnering with the YMCA, we aim to contribute to the positive impact they have on the community, ensuring that more people have access to the resources and opportunities needed to thrive physically, mentally, and socially. This sponsorship reflects our dedication to investing in the health and vitality of Central Kentucky, and we are proud to support an organization that shares our vision for a stronger, healthier community," explains Brad Wands, marketing and business development director for FRMC.
The Black Cat Chase 5K, held each year on the Friday before Halloween, has become a staple in the Frankfort community. The festive race is open to all and often brings out groups of friends, co-workers, families, and competitive runners alike; the proceeds benefit the Frankfort YMCA's Impact Campaign to ensure access to membership and programs for all. The festive atmosphere of the race is underscored by Halloween-themed music, creative costumes, and lots of activities from local businesses, schools, and other organizations. The race represents so much about what is true about the Y. Brad reflects, "I'm inspired by the YMCA’s dedication to providing opportunities for personal growth, whether it's through youth sports, educational programs, or health and wellness initiatives. The enthusiasm and commitment of the members, volunteers, and staff create an environment that encourages everyone to achieve their best, both individually and collectively. Moreover, the way people come together to support one another, celebrate successes, and tackle challenges is truly inspiring. It's exciting to be part of a community that values inclusivity, wellness, and continuous improvement. This collective energy and passion for making a positive difference is what makes our YMCA and community so special."
