All ages celebrate wellness wins at the YMCA of Central KY

Thank you to everyone who allowed the YMCA to be a part of their lives in 2024. We're honored to share highlights from last year, with the support of many donors, sponsors, community partners, staff, members, and participants. Here are just a few highlights from an amazing year. 

  • Over $633,000 was awarded in financial assistance for membership and programs
  • Member Visits: 1,230,546 visits were made to the YMCA's five locations in Central KY
  • Over 4,200 youth learned about teamwork in youth sports
  • We distributed over 4,000 backpacks in the community during our annual Back to School Rallies
  • 484 youth and adults with special needs participated in the Toyota Bluegrass Miracle League 
  • 67 individuals reclaimed their strength and connected with other survivors in LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
  • Over 1,800 individuals crossed the finish line at our signature race events: the Black Cat Chase 5K, Reindeer Ramble 5K, Philip Cullen Memorial Indoor Tri, and the Kids Tri at the Y
  • In the spring of 2024, we awarded $35,000 in scholarships to eligible seniors graduating from the Black Achievers program
  • 3,725 individuals gained confidence and learned life-saving skills through participating in swim lessons and water safety programs
  • Our Kids Corner childwatch locations saw 64,945 visits by household members
  • Over 1,000 kids participated in YMCA after school care; more than 1,400 youth played the summer days away in summer day camp, 343 kids were enrolled in our full-time early learning centers, and 135 students were served in Black Achievers
  • 212 students participated in the YMCA's Power Scholars Academy summer learning loss-prevention program
  • Group fitness was full and fun - over 169,000 visits were logged in classes  in 2024
  • A combined 259 individuals participated in our two competitive swim teams
  • Over the course of the year, the Y employed 862 part-time and 167 full-time staff
  • 322 individuals received their certifications in lifeguard training, CPR/First Aid, or babysitting
