Thank you for staying with us. Your support of the YMCA of Central Kentucky has enabled us to serve the community through emergency childcare service, and other efforts to continue to engage and support friends and families. We are now preparing to reopen our doors, and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our locations. However, returning to the YMCA will look and feel different for some period-of-time.
As we prepare for our reopening on June 1, we want you to know that our number one priority is your safety. Steps we are taking include:
- Rigorous disinfecting of facilities, prior to opening and each day upon closing,
- Training of our staff on new mandated cleaning protocols,
- Check-in procedures that are touchless,
- Additional sanitation stations for equipment wipe downs before/after usage.
Your visits to the YMCA upon reopening will also be different for some time due to health and safety and government protocols. Some of these include:
- Only select YMCA locations will initially be open to members,
- Smaller numbers of members allowed in the facilities during our reduced operating hours,
- Social distancing measures in the facility, and in-and-around equipment and workout stations,
- Staff members will be wearing face masks and gloves,
- There will be no coffee service or sitting together in common areas to visit and catch up,
- Locker rooms will be for restroom usage only, no shower service will be allowed,
- Only wellness center activities will initially be permitted.
Upon reopening, we will not offer group exercise classes, but will continue to host these through our Virtual YMCA service on our website. If you haven’t checked these out yet, we strongly suggest you do as there is much content available, including children’s content, on demand. While there is a plethora of health content available on the website, we wouldn’t be the YMCA if we didn’t offer mind and spirit content also, which can be found there too. We also have a specific section of content and classes for our active older adults.
As the COVID-19 rules and regulations evolve, we will update members via email, social media, and on our website. YMCACKY.org will have the most up-to-date information about reopening, which you can access here ymcacky.org/reopening-guide. Examples might include updated facility information, group exercise, reopening of the pools and aquatic classes, youth sports, and other programming. Please be patient as we reopen, we too are eager to reengage and reconnect, but only when it is safe to do so.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Until then, remain healthy and safe at home.
