ABOUT THE SWIM TEAM

The North Lexington Family YMCA Tigersharks are among the region's mostly highly respected champions of the water! Our coaching staff works with each swimmer to meet their individual needs to help them succeed, stay safe, and have fun.

Fall 2026 Season 
  • Full season begins the week of September 14 and runs through the end of March 2027
  • Registration is now open, and returning members will receive priority registration
New Members
  • Ages: 5-18
  • All new members will need to fill our the registration form, and Coach Steve Yanez will schedule an evaluation. He may also be contacted at syanez@ymcacky.org.
  • Attending an evaluation does not guarantee a space on the team. The evaluation will allow the swim coach to see their abilities. 
  • Evaluations are free and do not require membership to attend.
  • Open spots on the team are determined on a first come, first served basis.
Requirements Upon Joining The Team
  • Team participants must have an active YMCA of Central KY membership beginnning no later than September 1, 2026. Membership must be maintained throughout the swim season. Individual teen membership are available for those 13 - 17 years og age.
Placement and Practice
  • For the fall season, groups are divided by age and skill: 
    • Group 1: 8 and under
    • Group 2: 9 - 12
    • Group 3: 9 - 12
    • Group 4: 9 - 12
    • Group 5: 13 and up
    • Group 6: 13 and up

Practice times are dependent upon group placement. Specific practice days and times will be posted by July 1, 2027.

  • Group 1: 45 minutes per practice, 3 times per week
  • Group 2: 1 hour per practice, 3 times per week
  • Group 3: 1 hour per practice, 3 times per week
  • Group 4: 1 to 1.25 hours per practice, 3 times per week
  • Group 5: 1 to 1.5 hours per practice, 4 times per week
  • Group 6: 1 to 2 hours per practice, 5 times per week
Fees

Initial deposit of $100 is due by July 1 for June registration, August 1 for July registration, or September 1 for August registration, and is non-refundable. The registration fee will be subtracted from the full dues.

Fees vary by group and are due in full by September 1, 2026. Fees shows are full price and do not reflect the $100 registration fee that will be deducted.

  • Group 3: $495
  • Group 4: $530
  • Group 5: $610
  • Group 6: $760
