The C.M. Gatton Beaumont YMCA will begin a transformational facility renovation in September 2026 - the first major renovation since the building opened more than 25 years ago.

The YMCA of Central Kentucky is bringing this vision to life through a combination of organizational investment, philanthropic support, grants, and community partnerships. The project will include many of the Beaumont Y's most-used spaces, including a reimagined lobby and welcome area, a 2,750-square-foot expansion to the Wellness Center, new Pilates and cycling studios, a renovated Kids Corner, updated program spaces, and enhancements throughout the facility designed to create a more welcoming, accessible, and functional experience.

Renovations will take place in carefully planned phases through April 2027, allowing the YMCA to remain open although there may be temporary or extended closures to some areas. We will strive to minimize disruptions whenever possible.

As our community has grown, many of the facility's most-used spaces have reached capacity, and portions of the building are ready for modernization. This renovation will expand our ability to serve more people while creating welcoming, functional spaces that support health, connection, and belonging for generations to come.

The renovation will include updates to the lobby and arrival experience, 2,750-square-foot expansion to the Wellness Center, new Pilates and cycling studios, Kids Corner improvements, updated program spaces, a new partner space for CommonSpirit Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, and additional enhancements throughout the facility pending funding.

Construction is expected to begin in September 2026 and will continue in carefully planned phases through April 2027.

Yes. At different times, certain areas will temporarily close or relocate to allow for safe construction. Throughout the project, we'll provide regular updates, clear wayfinding, and advance notice of any temporary or extended closures or program and service relocation.

Yes. Almost all programs and classes will continue, though some schedules or locations may be adjusted temporarily depending on construction phases. We will communicate any changes as early as possible.

The renovation is intentionally designed in phases to keep the facility open at all times. We will use clear communication, signage, and alternative space planning to minimize disruption to members and staff.

We recognize how important the Beaumont YMCA is to our community. Keeping the facility open allows members to continue accessing programs and services while improvements are made.

This renovation is being supported through the YMCA's long-term capital planning and generous philanthropic support. Community investment helps ensure we can modernize the Beaumont YMCA while continuing to strengthen programs and services for generations to come.

Yes. We are continually evaluating future investments and making facility improvements to ensure our YMCA locations continue to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

We will provide regular updates throughout the project using our website, email, the YMCA app, social media, digital signage, and in-building communication. Our goal is to ensure members always know what is happening and what to expect.

This project will create more welcoming, modern, and functional spaces that better serve our members today while ensuring the Beaumont YMCA remains a strong community hub for decades to come.
