Grab your friends and family, comfortable shoes and form a team to participate in the 6th Annual Step Up for Kids, sponsored by MiddleGround Capital and LG&E and KU.
Track your steps from anywhere or join David Kloiber, President of Kloiber Foundation, at the Whitaker Family YMCA on Saturday, Sept. 19 between 6 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and walk, run or exercise your way to 100,000 steps in one day. You can move from anywhere to log steps. Looking to join some buddies? Here are some optional activities through the day!
Itinerary for the day:
- 6 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.: Log steps on the indoor track at the Whitaker Family YMCA any time
- 8:30 - 10 a.m.: Take a HIGH Fitness class at the Whitaker Family YMCA led by Amber S.
- 9:30 a.m.: Walk a few laps around Beaumont Centre circle, beginning at the front door of the C.M. Gatton Beaumont YMCA
- Approximately 5:30 p.m.: Finish your day at the Whitaker Family YMCA and cheer on David as he completes 100,000 steps
Track your steps & movement on your personal wearable device. Or, click here to download a conversion chart for non-walking activities to steps.
Individuals will have the option to self-report their total step count through QR codes at YMCA locations or Instagram and Facebook direct messages. Participants on a team can also self-report, or provide their update to their team captain at the end of the day.
All day, we'll be celebrating at the Whitaker Family YMCA, where you can:
- Pick up your t-shirt
- Commemorate your accomplishment and support for the Y by snapping pictures in a photo booth
- Enjoy music and snacks throughout the day
- Celebrate with David as he finishes his 100K Steps
It’s FREE to participate, but donations are gratefully received in support of youth in the community who come to the YMCA for safe, out-of-school-time services and programs!
Sign up as an individual, or join a team in support of your home YMCA location or program – and then move and step your way to epic team bragging rights on Sept. 19!
Prizes will be awarded to:
- Individual with highest step count on each team
- Individual with overall top step count from the event
- Individual who raises the most funds for the YMCA annual impact campaign
