The YMCA of Central Kentucky today announced that it has signed an agreement with Lexmark International to take over management of the child care center located on the Lexmark site.

Transition to the YMCA is scheduled to be completed by September 2019.

“Lexmark and the YMCA of Central Kentucky have collaborated in the past, most recently with the renovation of the North Lexington YMCA in 2016,” said David Martorano, president and CEO of the YMCA of Central Kentucky. “Managing the child care center is a natural expansion of that collaboration.

“The Y runs multiple licensed child care programs throughout Central Kentucky, and youth development is core to our mission of developing stronger communities,” Martorano stated. “We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to seeing the child care center reach its full potential.”

Martorano added that the child care center will continue with a STEAM-focused curriculum and that enrollment will be expanded to include other YMCA corporate partners in Fayette County.

"The YMCA of Central Kentucky is a trusted local organization that shares our commitment to the community,” said Sharon Votaw, Lexmark senior vice president and chief human resources officer. “Lexmark has proudly supported the YMCA for many years and we are confident they will continue to provide the highest quality care to children at the center.”

The nearly 25,000-square foot facility opened in September of 2013 and has been managed by Bright Horizons since its inception.
